At Shirlee’s, you can work out in our outdoor pool, which we keep heated year round. Near the pool is an even warmer jacuzzi. We also have a custom built, cedar dry sauna for dry heat. The pool is available for both individual use and group classes (schedule). Aqua instructors, who are certified, make water workout a blast.
Jump right in – the water’s great! Our water exercise classes focus on both cardiovascular and strength benefits. Whether you’re trying to maintain your current level of fitness or reach a new level, the added benefit of training in water makes our aqua workouts safe and fun without impact to the joints. Aqua fitness benefits include strengthening cardio, flexibility, balance, and muscles strength. Even people who suffer from arthritis may want to give these classes a try!
THE INTENSITY OF THE WATER AEROBICS CLASS IS DETERMINED BY HOW HARD YOU DECIDE TO WORK. THIS SHALLOW WATER WORKOUT INCLUDES CALISTHENICS STYLE MOVEMENTS WITH VARIATIONS OF UPPER AND LOWER BODY RESISTANT MOVES. PARTICIPANTS MARCH, JOG, AND SKI THROUGH THE WATER TO CREATE RESISTANCE TO IMPROVE CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS, MUSCULAR ENDURANCE AND FLEXIBILITY. EACH INSTRUCTOR USES HER CREATIVITY TO KEEP THE PACE MOVING AND THE ACTIVITIES INTERESTING. AS THE PARTICIPANT, YOU MANIPULATE THE WATER TO CREATE YOUR PREFERRED LEVEL OF INTENSITY.
This class is focused on strength training, with low impact on joints. It’s aimed at pregnant women, seniors, anyone in recovery from injury or surgery, or just those who could benefit from this kind of workout.
